Hello!

"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.  What you have caught on film is captured forever...It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything."   - Aaron Siskind

My Story

Thanks so much for visiting my website!  My name is Rachael Rush and I absolutely love taking pictures.  I got my first 110 camera in elementary school, and I've been clicking away at anything that would pose for me since.  After graduating from Zeeland High School, I was in the Army Reserves for eight years, with one tour in Iraq.  I didn't think so at the time, but my deployment was one of the best things that has happened in my life.  I learned to not take life for granted, you never know how much time you have left.  I made great friendships with people from all over the United States that I'm still in touch with today.

After Iraq, I worked at Auto Value, and then Tiara Yachts where I met my now husband.  We have the best kids I could have ever hoped for!  Right now I work at Gentex part-time, and still help out at Auto Value occasionally.  My part-time schedule allows me to be able to raise my kids without daycare and still do "mom things" like trying to sew homemade Halloween costumes, (worst decision ever!).

When the girls were three we moved from a single wide trailer into a house that had more than 1 1/2 bedrooms, Hallelujah!  It was here I was able to have my big flower and vegetable gardens, and started giving a little more serious thought to my picture taking hobby.  I started with my cell phone, and bribed my kids with chocolate to sit endlessly while I practiced different poses and lighting.  I worked up to a professional camera, lenses, backdrops and lighting and I'm still going!

Right now I'm doing photography, my part-time jobs, and in the warmer months my vegetable and flower gardens which I recently started a roadside stand for.  I'm so happy to be able to do what I love, and want to help others capture those special moments or grow those tomato plants!  Thanks again for checking me out, I look forward to getting to know you and what you hope to capture for your photography session!
